Indoor Activities in Orlando

When you think of the Sunshine State, you probably think of just that—lazing in the sand at the beach or enjoying a full day at the theme parks. Of course, Floridians know that summer means a reliable 2 p.m. rainstorm and sometimes sweltering temperatures.

It just makes sense that sometimes you’ll need indoor activities in Orlando.

Luckily for those of us who still want to have fun no matter the weather, Orlando has no shortage of exciting indoor things to do. Here are a few of our favorite options.

Put on your bowling shoes

If you’re competitive and need an activity that won’t break the bank, it’s time to strap on your bowling shoes. Looking for bowling near Lake Mary? Elev8 Fun’s interactive bowling takes the game to the next level, making the day exciting for all ages. Bowling is the perfect family outing, birthday celebration with your friend group, or Orlando date night. Refuel with a delicious cocktail, some Pepsi products, or some food from our PL8 Bar & Grill. Let the games begin and let the best bowler win!

Visit the fish at an aquarium

Another fun-for-everyone activity is touring an aquarium, and Orlando has several options. Visit Sea Life Aquarium or take a trip down the street to SeaWorld’s Manta Aquarium. Aquariums are a great experience for the little ones to learn more about aquatic life, but they can also be a fun Orlando attraction for adults. Either way, you’re sure to make some great memories.

Unleash your inner lumberjack at axe throwing

Another one for our competitive friends out there is axe throwing. Elev8 is the perfect place to go axe throwing near Altamonte. You may know the activity as throwing axes at spray painted wood, but you haven’t heard of axe throwing the Elev8 way. We make this activity axe-citing with laser projected games. Throw your axes into a game of tic-tac-toe, connect 4, moving bullseyes and more! This indoor activity is for adults only, so make sure to make this one an Orlando date idea or fun friend activity.

Strap on a pair of skates

Throw it back to earlier days and go to your nearest roller rink to see just how coordinated you really are. A cheap and exciting Orlando family activity, roller skating will be a core memory for the kids and make you feel young again. Roller skating isn’t your thing? There’s always ice skating! Get an unfamiliar taste of what it feels like to be cold in Orlando while trying out this popular winter sport at a few locations in Orlando.

Battle it out in laser tag

Duck, dive and don’t forget to watch your back! Adrenaline junkies, this is for you. Laser tag is the perfect indoor activity for your entire posse to enjoy. Elev8 has the best laser tag near Winter Springs, with a 5,000 square foot arena filled with obstacles. Get suited up in the latest gear and go head-to-head with your crew to show them who’s boss. It’s a game that’s fun for all ages, so it’s time to take your shot.

Test your skills at an escape room

Put your mind to the ultimate test by taking a trip to your nearest escape room. Rooms range from beginner to advanced, depending on how hard you’re willing to work (and how much of a challenge you really want!) Bring out the entire group and see who’s got what it takes. It’s the perfect activity for team building!

Hang around at a ropes course

Some argue that life is a little bit more fun when you’re hanging 10 feet in the air. Elev8’s rope course proves it. This ropes course near Longwood includes log platforms, hang-walls, obstacles and more! A ropes course is an easy way to have fun indoors for all ages. And don’t worry, it’s safe fun too, including a fail-safe rail harness for your protection. Before you make the trip, make sure the entire family is at least 6 years old and 48” tall.

Appreciate the arts at your local museum

For the creatives (or admirers of the creatives) out there, there are so many museums just waiting to be visited in Orlando, and they are a great pick for a rainy day activity. Science lovers, check out the Orlando Science Center, which provides hands-on experiences for all ages. If you’re more of a history fanatic, Downtown Orlando houses the Orange County Regional History Center with four floors of exhibits. Or make learning fun and take home some interesting facts and stories from Orlando’s Titanic Artifact Exhibition or the Chocolate Museum and Cafe.No matter your interest, Orlando has a museum for you.

Shop ’til you drop

If there’s something Orlando is full of, it’s places to shop. If you’re looking for an indoor activity in Orlando, try visiting some of the biggest malls in the area. Explore upscale shops at the Mall at Millenia, or stop by Central Florida’s largest mall: The Florida Mall. Find a new outfit or make it a game: pick outfits for each other! You won’t run short of your favorite shops here.

Check out the latest blockbusters

Dinner and a movie? Yes please! Close Netflix and get off your couch—Orlando has some great movie theaters that make watching a movie an actual experience. Who can pass up movie theater buttered popcorn or a slushie the size of your head? If it’s date night, don’t forget to stop at the bar to make your movie just a little bit more fun.
