Fun Family Friendly Activities in Central Florida

Orlando is known family fun. We’ve got world-class theme parks just around the corner and some of the best beaches just an hour away.

Even so, residents of Central Florida might not be able to swing a park or beach trip every other weekend. Luckily, they don’t have to! Central Florida is full of family adventures waiting to be had. From educational to purely entertaining, there’s plenty to explore when you want to mix up the outings with the kids.

At Elev8 Fun, we think of ourselves as experts on family fun in Sanford. Here are a few of our favorite family adventures in Central Florida.

Make a furry friend at the Zoo

Whether you’re an animal lover or just enjoy the beauty of nature, the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens is an amazing option.Located just up the street from us in Sanford, the Zoo is an awesome community resource for Central Floridians. (In fact, we sponsored their Family Sunset event this year!) The property features shaded boardwalks and more than 300 animal friends to meet, from PJ the rhino to two giraffes you can actually feed. There is also a splash pad and a playground for the kids to enjoy.

Have a picnic at the park

They don’t call it the City Beautiful for nothing! The Orlando area features dozens of parks perfect for a picnic. Lake Eola is one great option right in the heart of downtown. Visitors can stroll around the lake and take in the city scenes and famous swans. Closer to us in Sanford you could take a stroll along Lake Monroe at Fort Mellon Park. Want to kick things up a notch? Stop by a few local eateries and pick up some treats to make it a picnic!

Enjoy a day on the water

Speaking of Lake Eola, the park offers swan boat rentals for families and friends to get a different perspective of the park. Just head over, rent your boat and pedal with your feet to explore.Alternatively, Central Florida offers a handful of incredible lakes, streams and springs with the option to rent canoes or kayaks. The kids will love splashing around and soaking in Florida’s wildlife. Not up for the extra work? Winter Park has a famous Scenic Boat Tour that’s always a fun option for adults and kids alike.

Learn new something at a museum

Want to add in some education to the fun? There are a variety of fun museums to choose from in the Central Florida area. From some silly options along iDrive, like Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, to some more traditional options closer to downtown, there’s plenty to explore. One fun one is the Orlando Science Center, and the Orlando Museum of Art also offers some kid-focused exhibits and activities.
